Performance testing of dosimeters used in interventional radiology: Results from the VERIDIC project

Interventional procedures in radiology and cardiology are associated with high dose to the patient. Accurate dosimetry is essential calibration of equipment a means provide necessary accuracy assessment. The objective this work investigate performance dosimeters used interventional different standard non-standard X-ray radiation qualities, potential uncertainties related measurements, thus improving patient procedures. Four new reference qualities dedicated applications have been established, allowing clinical conditions appropriate traceability primary standards. Testing solid-state semiconductor detectors thermoluminescent dosimeter properties, e.g. influence photon energy, angle incidence rate, was performed qualities. Both types showed good beams during all tests. Solid-state displayed weak dependence on range defined by manufacturer requirements international standard. Thermoluminescent excellent linearity angular dependence. energy measurement uncertainty can be reduced if quality selected for calibration.
